Public Education and Information in Support of Privatization
1995-96

OSC designed and implemented a public education and information program in Kyrgyzstan to increase public understanding of privatization reform, improve the accuracy of media coverage and improve government-media relations.

OSC introduced the weekly television broadcast, "Call-in Thursday," winner of two national awards for journalistic excellence. The broadcast featured live interviews with government officials who respond on-the-spot to public questions and concerns.

OSC also organized the International Conference on Privatization, attended by eight CIS governments, and created the State Property Fund Roundtable Group, a weekly meeting of journalists, economic reform experts and government officials.
