LAND

Rwanda

USAID 2012 – 2017

OSC provided technical assistance and training, helping local institutions to design and implement strategic communications campaigns to increase understanding among government officials, civil society organizations, research institutes, and citizens about land laws, policies, regulations, and legal judgments. OSC carried out a communications and advocacy assessment and crafted a comprehensive, sector-wide strategy based on those results. OSC first recommended a series of training sessions for Rwandan government officials and CSOs in the planning and execution of multi-channel communications campaigns using radio, video and SMS. OSC also provided recommendations for the creation of a web portal that would produce a one-stop platform for land-related information where stakeholders could share information. OSC’s efforts helped citizens, specifically women and youth in rural areas who are more likely to be involved in land disputes, develop an awareness and understanding of their rights.
