Trade and Accession Facilities for Afghanistan (TAFA)

USAID 2009-Present

OSC is working with the government, local NGOs, journalists, universities, think-tanks, and businesses support institutions to increase public and private sector awareness of the benefits of trade reform and WTO accession. OSC is building local stakeholder capacity to effectively interact with the media and the public and increasing the quality and quantity of two-way communication between the government, Afghanistan's citizens, and the private sector.

 

Small and Medium Enterprise Development Program (ASMED)

USAID 2009

OSC provided communications training for ASMED senior communications staff.  Training modules emphasized taking a strategic approach to public outreach across all project activities and conducting media outreach to ensure consistent message delivery on project objectives, activities and impact.

 

Public Information in Support of Private Sector and Policy Development

USAID 2006 - 2009

OSC has designed and is implementing a public information strategy that will increase the effectiveness of Afghanistan government communications about economic growth and the development of the private sector. Following an assessment of project and counterpart communications capacity and activities, OSC is rolling out a public education campaign targeting Afghanistan citizens, the Parliament, local and international media outlets, and other donors.

 

Public Education in Support of Land Privatization and Land Titling
USAID 2004-2007

The Land Titling program increased participation of private sector leaders, business associations, and citizens in advocating for policy changes to create a legal framework for state owned enterprise transformation. The public outreach program ensured that government, business, and NGO leaders developed the capacity to provide concise, accurate information to the media and manage public outreach campaigns in support of the privatization process.

Public Information in Support of Economic Reform

USAID 2003 - 2005

OSC trained counterparts at the Ministry of Finance, Central Bank and Office of the President on the preparation and delivery of public information campaigns. Activities included message development training, delivering news conferences, creating an economic journalists association, and regular briefings to inform the public and other stakeholders about the impact and benefits of the project under the guidelines of the National Development Framework of Afghanistan. OSC staff also trained local journalists on reporting best practices and coverage of economic development-related stories, and assisted the Government of Afghanistan on a European road show to highlight economic progress and investment opportunities in Afghanistan.
